Summer Star wins a "Listed race" in Limerick (Ireland).

No, it's not an April fish! On Sunday the 1st of April, Summer Star won the Kevin McManus Bookmaker Champion INH Flat Race. She started as 5/4 to 1 favorite in a Listed race for four-year-old thoroughbreds over a distance of 2 miles with a prize stock of 25.000 euro. This brings her score to two victories and a fourth place in only three races. Congratulations to Ted and Katie Walsh, respectively the trainer and jockey of Summer Star. The Irish press spoke praise: Summer Star came from last to first to record an impressive victory in the Listed bumper at Limerick. Settled in rear early by Katie Walsh the Medicean filly took closer order before the straight. She quickened up smartly in the straight to hit the front and galloped on strongly to record a two-and-a-half length victory over 33/1 shot Lady Of Glencoe. Ted Walsh's charge was sent off the 5/2 favourite and was following up on her victory at the course just under two weeks ago. "She surprised me the last day and I was pleasantly surprised today again," said Walsh. "She has a good Flat pedigree and her dam is a half-sister to a good horse. "There is a small possibility she could go for the Grade One bumper at Punchestown but she might go for a two-mile Flat race. "She's a quality Flat-type mare and she jumps well, but I've no intention of going jumping with her for a while." (Irishracing.com)
