Thirty years ago we already engaged in purchase and sale of thoroughbreds. Thirty years ago the gallop was on a dignified level in Belgium. Later, standards were falling very fast and at this moment, Belgium doesn't play an important part anymore. But the love for the thoroughbreds remained. So we purchased the six-year-old brown mare Summer Stage during the "Vente d'élevage" in Deauville on Saturday the 5th of December. Summer Stage is the full sister of no one less than Act One, who won the Critérium International (Gr1) and the Prix Lupin (Gr1). Act One finished second in the Prix du Jockey-Club (Gr1), being the French Derby. Furthermore, Summer Stage has the Gr1 ranked brother Gharir (Machiavellian) for instance 3th Gainsborough Poule d'Essai des Poulains (Gr1) and the Gr1 ranked sister Summer Symphonie (Caerleon) for instance 2th Fillies Mille St. (Gr1). Summer Stage gave already birth to two foals. An in 2010 two-year-old daughter of Medicean, in training in England and an in 2009 born filly of Manduro, going to be presented on the August Yearling Sale (Deauville)in 2010. For 2010, Summer Stage is carrying of Duke of Marmelade (2004), 6 victories, Prix Ganay (Gr1), International St (Gr1), King George VI & Queen Elizabeth St. (Gr1), Prince of Wale's St. (Gr1), Gold Cup (Gr1), 2nd St James's Palaces St. (Gr1), Irish Champion St. (Gr1, Vintage St. (Gr2), 3th Queen Elizabeth II St. (Gr1), 4th International St. (Gr1), 2000 Guineas (Gr1), Irish 2000 Guineas (Gr1). Summer Stage leaves very shortly for Ireland to be covered by one of the Coolmore top stallions.
